Dubai’s call for action: Scaling up urban resilience for a changing climate
The first annual Global Urban Resilience Forum, hosted by the City of Dubai and co-organized with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), recognized the negative impact of the escalating climate emergency on urban inhabitants around the world.
Participants of the forum came up with the outcome document "Dubai's call for action", it encourages the integration of traditional, indigenous, and local knowledge in disaster risk assessment and policies, as well as the use of nature-based solutions in urban areas. The forum emphasized the need for data-driven approaches to inform decision-making and recognized the transformative potential of technology, including artificial intelligence, in collecting and disseminating risk-related data. It is also called for the expansion of initiatives such as the UN's Early Warnings for All and Forecast Based Financing to protect urban communities.
The Global resilience Forum outcome document is available in ENGLISH, ARABIC, FRENCH, SPANISH, PORTUGUESE, RUSSIAN and CHINESE.
