Small Island Developing States (SIDS)

MCR2030 works with Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Caribbean to boost resilience and disaster risk reduction.

In the face of acute hydrometeorological risks, Tobago joined the MCR2030 initiative in May 2022, aiming to accelerate disaster resilience-building at the island level and lead the way for a more resilient Caribbean region.

Using the structures incorporated in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030), Trinidad and Tobago is taking a comprehensive overview of hazards, risks and uncertainties to inform its decision-making and planning.

With the adherence of all municipal corporations to MCR2030, Jamaica shows its commitment to achieving a sustainable and resilient future.

Over the last 20 years, disasters in Asia-Pacific have become more numerous and expensive, and cities are where the impacts of these disasters are most acutely felt.

Following on from the Asia-Pacific Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction (APP-DRR) Forum, a series of thematic consultations were organized to identify priority actions to be considered at the 2021 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR).
